| Finding the right agency will find you the right person | | Posted Monday, February 06, 2006 9:57:28 AM by Alex Molin | Dating agencies know how to appear tempting, but some of them are not right for you. Don't hesitate and check before you register to one. Check the dating agency's background. Ask others for recommendations or criticism. If you can't find any background, or if the details you find our vague stay away from this agency. Good agencies will offer number of membership options.
A good idea would be also to check the male to female ratio. Some of the agencies require a fee for their services. Compare it with other agencies fees. Although you might think that high fees promises excellent service and low fees might indicate that the service is not that good - this is not always the case.
However, you should also suspect free membership. Is it really free? If you really want to get some services, eventually you will have to pay, and it might be higher than you expected. Make sure the agency you join is reliable.
Does the agency make sure your personal details remain confidential? Does the agency provide support services in case of harassment by another member?
And just in case, I suggest you join more than just one agency (but not too many). You can meet more people, learn more tips about dating and compare services.

| | | In checking donors, Pirro may have violated codes of conduct | | Posted Monday, January 29, 2007 2:52:35 PM by Blog57 Team | | Jeanine Pirro's use of the Westchester District Attorney's Office to conduct background checks of financial contributors to her political campaign may have violated professional codes of conduct for prosecutors. The New York State District Attorneys Association's Codes of Conduct for Political Activity forbids district attorneys from using their offices' "supplies, equipment, facilities or resources for political purposes." Association President Michael Bongiorno, the Rockland district attorney, said he could not say for certain whether Pirro - a former NYSDAA president - violated the group's code of conduct by having her office screen donors. "What falls within those confines can be gray," Bongiorno said of the codes of conduct. When asked specifically about the background checks, Bongiorno added, "I know I've never done it." Pirro's attorney, Charles Stillman, on Thursday told The Journal News that during her tenure as Westchester's top prosecutor, Pirro used the resources of her office to screen political donors to her ill-fated campaign for U.S.... | |

| | | Africa: Food Aid - No Solution, But Better Than Nothing | | Posted Tuesday, November 14, 2006 10:52:34 PM by Blog57 Team | | The growing damage wrought by climate change in sub-Saharan Africa demands true political will to emerge from the United Nations Climate Change Conference to end growing hunger through sustainable development. Ask Mohamed Abey, a pastoralist leader in a dusty roadside community in northeastern Kenya. Because of food aid, Mohamed has a choice: he and his family can stay where they are or retreat to the nearest town to join destitute families who can never hope to return to pastoralism but depend on casual labour. Mohamed, 47, says he owned 400 head to livestock before the 2005 drought, and now has 20. He admits pastoralism is no longer sustainable. He is grateful for the monthly food, but urges the world to do more so the 2,000 people in Skanska can get back on their own feet. Told that a lack of support for restocking or safety net schemes means that food is about all they can currently expect, he predicts: "If there isn't enough rain and we cannot return to pastoralism, we will come up with other options." He then suggests trying farming, but admits he first needs help with seeds and irrigation.... | |

| | | Men and parking spaces | | Posted Sunday, November 12, 2006 6:59:00 AM by Blog57 Team | | Many North American women jokingly compare the problem of searching for a suitable husband to looking for parking spacesthe good ones are all taken; the rest are either hard to get into or disabled. For newly arrived, unmarried Filipino women in Vancouver, Canada, the single biggest hurdle is finding a prospective life partner; particularly for domestic workers who are in their early twenties to thirties. Most men at this age are already in committed relationships, so the market is quite limited. Worse, culture gets in the way of mating rituals, these being conducted differently in the West. For instance, the guys are not as confident in approaching women as Pinoys do, so the shy Pinay misses out on opportunities because her silence reads lack of interest. A western woman, on the other hand, has no qualms about taking proactive steps to snag her man.... | |
